“Special Agent” DJ Daniel Is Now Battling Three New Tumors
DJ Daniel, the young man from Houston, Texas, who President Donald Trump swore in as a U.S. Secret Service agent during his joint address to Congress on March 4, is now facing a new tumor diagnosis.
After Daniel was given five months to live after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer six years ago, he has set out to be sworn into 1,000 law enforcement agencies around the country.
The White House announced Friday that DJ has unfortunately been diagnosed with three new tumors.
DJ’s Inspiring Journey
DJ was diagnosed at just the age of 6 with a rare form of brain cancer, but has defied the odds and continues to chase after his goal of becoming a police officer.
The young boy has had more than 13 brain surgeries, and is part of a research study in hopes of finding a cure.
Since his diagnosis in 2018, DJ and his father have visited more than 900 law enforcement agencies, and nearly all of them have named the boy an honorary officer.
“If you call us to come, we are gonna show up,” DJ’s father, Theodis Daniel, said. “We will do anything to try to motivate people and give them hope.”
Earlier this year, President Trump gave DJ national recognition, when he invited him to his address to Congress to officially swear him in with the highest honor.
“Tonight, DJ, we’re going to do you the biggest honor of them all,” Trump said during his speech. “I’m asking our new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service.”
A Special Visit To The Secret Service Training Center
Shortly after he was sworn in as a special agent, DJ had the opportunity to visit the James J. Rowley Training Center in Beltsville, Maryland, according to the United States Secret Service.
The 13-year-old attended the graduation ceremony for the Special Agent Training Class 445, and he visited a garage and driving pad where special agents train.
DJ also visited the Secret Service’s Civil Disturbance Unit, where he was able to fire a stun gun and perform other practice scenes.
He shook hands and offered countless hugs with many officers, in addition to receiving many heartfelt gifts.
“I have a message for kids who have cancer,” DJ said. “Have faith. Believe in God. Listen to your parents.”
