The wait was finally over for Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, as the Browns selected him with the No. 144 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sanders, the son of Pro Football Hall-of-Famer and Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, was widely expected to be a first- or second-round pick, but he experienced one of the more shocking falls in the draft in recent memory.
He fell all the way to the fifth round and was selected behind five other quarterbacks.
The Browns gave up picks 166 and 192 to trade up 22 spots with the Seattle Seahawks for the right to select Sanders.
On social media, Shedeur took to his X account and wrote, “Thank you God.”
Thousand responded to him, but no one went as viral as the X account for Kentucky Fried Chicken.
The account wrote to Shedeur Sanders, “The Colonel was rejected 1,009 times before finally landing our famous original recipe. Sometimes, all a Sanders needs is a little time to cook. Congrats Shedeur!!”

Sanders entered the draft as one of the most highly regarded quarterback prospects, but a slew of anonymous comments from teams seemingly dropped his stock.
His exit from the opening night was surprising, and as Rounds 2 and 3 came and went without his name being called, it became one of the biggest storylines of the draft.
In the meantime, Shedeur Sanders is headed to a team that now has five quarterbacks.

Kentucky Fried Chicken is going viral for its reply to Sanders, but they both have a history together.
The fast-food chain launched a social media advertisement with Shedeur, Shilo Sanders, and Travis Hunter in 2024. KFC has previously worked with the Sanders family to promote its Fill Up Box, chicken nuggets, and hot and spicy wings.
The latest venture was their marketing of the company’s Smash’d Bowl. The trio signed NIL deals to work with KFC.
