When Wesley Daley last spoke to his mother Friday night, he didn’t think anything of it.

Dan and Virginia Daley, longtime residents of the neighborhood, vanished in the early morning hours of July 4. Virginia had been posting on social media about the flooding in Kerrville as the waters outside her own home began to rise.
Now, Wesley is desperate to find them.

“They’re important in our lives,” he said. “They have grandkids. They’ve fought through medical issues. But they weren’t ready to go.”
Some neighbors reported hearing cries for help in the darkness. Wesley believes his parents may have tried to escape in their car — but didn’t make it far.
Wesley hasn’t stopped searching. He’s combing through the muddy wreckage, hoping they’ve been rescued and just haven’t been connected with yet.

“I think the hope is, if my mom is a is alive, if my dad is alive, they were part of the people that were rescued. That’s just a hopeful thought,” Wesley said.

He’s not alone. Volunteer firefighters and neighbors have joined the search, offering what they can—boats, drones, prayers. KXAN spoke to spoke to someone who claimed to have found Virginia’s wallet late Monday afternoon.
Some neighbors in area also expressed to KXAN they feel overlooked by the flood response.
Travis County officials told KXAN that seven people are confirmed dead and that crews are still searching for 10 missing people.
