Val Kilmer’s family has released a statement following the actor’s death.

On Thursday, April 3, 2025, his children, daughter Mercedes Kilmer and son Jack Kilmer, issued a statement to People magazine. In their statement, they expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and admiration for their father.

The statement read: “Thank you for honoring our extraordinary father’s memory. We are so proud of him and honored to see his legacy celebrated. At this time, we would like to grieve privately.”
Mercedes Kilmer had previously confirmed to The New York Times that her father died of pneumonia in Los Angeles and was cancer-free at the time of his passing.

This statement marks the family’s first public comments since the news of Val Kilmer’s death. Their words convey a sense of pride in his life and work, as well as a desire for privacy as they mourn their loss.
