Before stepping behind the podium to face the press corps, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt turns to prayer for strength and guidance.
In a behind-the-scenes video shared Friday on X (formerly Twitter), the White House offered a rare glimpse into Leavitt’s pre-briefing routine. The clip, posted by Margo Martin, special assistant to the president and communications advisor, captured the moment Leavitt led a prayer moments before addressing the press.
“Lord Jesus, please give us the strength, the knowledge, the ability to articulate our words and have fun and be confident. In Jesus’ name. Amen,” she said.
Martin posted the video with the caption: “This is your @PressSec, America!” accompanied by a praying hands emoji and the U.S. flag.

America’s Youngest Press Secretary
At just 27, Karoline Leavitt holds the title of the youngest White House press secretary in U.S. history. She began her political career as a White House intern during President Trump’s first term and later served as an assistant press secretary under then-Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany.
Leavitt’s rise in Republican politics continued when she became a spokesperson for Trump’s 2024 campaign. Following his return to office, she was appointed the face of the White House press team for his second term.
Faith at the Center of Her Role
In a recent interview with CBN News, Leavitt spoke candidly about the role her Christian faith plays in her day-to-day responsibilities. She explained that praying with her team before briefings helps her remain focused and grounded in the midst of the intense scrutiny and demands of the job.
“I think that team prayer before is just a moment to be silent and still and ask God for confidence and the ability to articulate my words, knowledge, prayer, protection… it is a nice moment to reset,” she said. “It’s the last thing I do before I go out there, and then it just gives me the confidence to do a briefing.”
Leavitt described her faith as an anchor amid the high-stress environment of the White House and the broader political stage.
“My faith is incredibly important to me. I would argue now more than ever,” she told CBN. “Being in a role that is very demanding and at times controversial… there’s a lot of public pressure and discussion online about who you are and your family. And you know, it could be difficult for someone who doesn’t have faith. But with faith, all things are possible.”
