Country music legends Carrie Underwood and Dwight Yoakam lit up the stage with a dazzling, high-energy duet that stole the spotlight at Nashville’s CMA Summer Jam.

On the evening of July 27, the Ascend Amphitheater in Downtown Nashville played host to one of the most unforgettable live country music collaborations of the year. Carrie Underwood and Dwight Yoakam, both GRAMMY-winning icons, joined forces to headline the opening night of the 2025 CMA Summer Jam, captivating fans with their vocal chemistry and timeless stage charisma.

A Tribute to Country Roots: “A Thousand Miles from Nowhere” & “Guitars, Cadillacs”

Underwood and Yoakam’s performance was more than a duet—it was a celebration of country music history. Together, they performed Yoakam’s 1993 hit “A Thousand Miles from Nowhere,” followed by the crowd-favorite “Guitars, Cadillacs.”

As their guitars rang out under the Nashville sky, the crowd responded with a roaring ovation, celebrating not just the music, but the deep respect and admiration between two country greats.

Carrie Underwood later took to Instagram to express her gratitude:

“Never in a million years would I have thought I would get to share the stage with someone this cool. Dwight Yoakam, you are a LEGEND and, now, a friend as well! Thank you!”

Stage Style: Carrie Underwood’s Sparkling Tribute to Dwight

Underwood stunned the audience in a custom DanielXDiamond ensemble, complete with a Saint Laurent teerhinestone-detailed shorts, and a sequin cowboy hat inspired by Yoakam’s vintage style. According to designer Daniel Musto, the jacket originated as a vintage Levi’s piece and was reimagined with hand-applied rhinestone fringe. The hat alone took over 25 hours to craft.

Underwood captioned her look with:

“Howdy, partner…”
— a nod to Yoakam’s signature flair.
